The Internet is an absolutely diverse space for shared opinions and ideas. Especially now, during the times of ongoing pandemic and translocation of interest from the real world to the virtual reality, I believe each can find the supporting news blog of their interest. The issues and concerns within the media and society increase with days as an increase in the branches of the themes. Therefore, I would like to recommend some of the topics for further research and speculations on.
1. "Big Lion Sports" by Michael. Reference: https://biglionsportcom.wordpress.com/
Which analyzes the sports area as a separate culture for media attention. The interconnectedness between the mainstream and sport as part of our lives represents to what extent this sphere is present on a daily bases for millions of people. The idea of how subjective the discussion of sports might actually result in interesting speculation within its interaction with the recent situation in the world - COVID-19; how, if taking it into account as the profitable business, it also worth media attention in comparison to seemingly more important professions such as medical and pharmacy role for instance.
2. "Keeping movies alive" by Axel. Reference: https://keepingmoviesalive.wordpress.com/contact/
An interesting attempt at the historical analysis of the art in the movies and its connection with the media. More to that is seen the battle between the roots of the cinema industry and a sharp jump of the streaming platforms overtaking the audience's attention seemingly leaving the history behind. The easiness of clipping the movies and receiving the demand from the public, the branches, and spheres of life taken at each interest.
3. "Cyberbullying" by Andrea. Reference: https://mediaandsocietycyberbullying.blogspot.com/
Bullying... One of the most sensitive topics discussed, especially now - cyberbullying. A prior to the word "cyber" we can already guess to what extent media platform can influence our daily behavior and interaction, whom it reached, and how hard. It progresses even with restrictions and sponsorship, and thus has audience attention most of the time to find significant solutions to reduce the risk of people's exposure to any of the negative comments as they shape people, they shape society.
4. "The dangers and concerns about gaming" by Alessandro. Reference: https://xgerosaa.wixsite.com/gaming-insights/blog
Negative and positive aspects of videogames - also a recent topic for discussion due to the increased "free" time in the times of spread virus. Therefore, increased exposure of children and adults to the virtual world being present in there a long time. Do we become more aggressive? Are there more platforms for game streaming? Which games are in use and how they affect us?
5. "Internet addiction" by Sydney. Reference: https://sydneyavrinmedia.blogspot.com/
And summing up previously discussed topics, it all may result exactly in the internet addiction. Time, content, speed, sources provided in a variety of media platforms. Lack of live socialization, no-filtered conversations, lack of shared interests, and much more. I would rather word it as an addiction to pleasure, both emotional and neuronal levels of our organism as itself.
There are more investigative issues for discussions on how media affects us. Meanwhile, it is essential to recognize how it affects us and to what we make a choice. Be cautious of what you are exposed to.
